I am URGE's Acting Director, and Assistant Professor of Political Science at the Department of Welfare and Labour Studies of the University of Milan, where I teach European Union Politics and Policies (undergraduate), EU Social and Employment Policy (graduate) and Methodology of Political and Social Science (graduate).
I was born in Turin in 1971 and hold a PhD in Political Science from the University of Pavia, and a Laurea in Economics from Bocconi University of Milan. I was Visiting Scholar at UC Berkeley, Department of Political Science.
I am a member of the Editorial Board of Rivista Italiana di Scienza Politica, Italy’s leading political science journal.
My research interests lie in Comparative social policy analysis, European social policy and European integration. I am currently researching on social protection for non standard workers in Italy and Europe, the impact of European integration on domestic social policy governance in the EU Member States, and on the quality of democracy in Europe.

I have just completed a volume (written with two labour economists, Fabio Berton and Matteo Richiardi) on work flexibility and precariousness of employment in Italy: Flex-insecurity. Perché in Italia la flessibilità diventa precarietà. I am working on another book, on European integration and social policy governance in the EU Member States.

My most recent publications are:
