This section collects the results of the partnership, launched in 2007, between URGE and Biblioteca della libertà, a journal published under the auspices of Turin-based Centro Einaudi. For over forty years, «Bdl» has dealt with the challenges posed by ongoing transformations to contemporary liberal-democratic societies.

Every year, URGE’s researchers will address in the pages of «Bdl» a topic of great relevance, related to the European integration process, in an accessible whilst rigorous way. Hot issues that have not yet been debated thoroughly in Italy, the chosen topics will be addressed in their most fundamental aspects and analysed from the angle of their implications.

The collaboration between URGE and «Bdl» was inaugurated in 2007 on the issue of the Directive on service liberalization in the EU, better known as the Bolkestein Directive. In 2008 the issue of discriminations in Europe has been addressed.
